TechFlow news, on November 14, according to Bloomberg, OpenAI plans to launch an AI agent tool codenamed "Operator" in January 2025. The tool will be released as a research preview and made available to developers via API. The new tool can automatically perform multi-step tasks on users' computers, such as writing code and booking travel.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman previously hinted on Reddit's Q&A session that the next major breakthrough would be AI agents. Sources familiar with the matter revealed that OpenAI is developing multiple agent-related research projects, with the one closest to completion being a general-purpose tool capable of performing tasks within web browsers.
