TechFlow reported, according to Bloomberg, the founder of cryptocurrency mixing service Bitcoin Fog has been sentenced to 12 and a half years in prison for laundering tens of millions of dollars from illegal drug sales on darknet markets.
Roman Sterlingov, 36, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Randolph Moss in federal court in Washington to 150 months in prison. Prosecutors said Bitcoin Fog processed hundreds of millions of dollars in untraceable transactions, some originating from known darknet marketplaces. Sterlingov was convicted of conspiracy to commit money laundering, money laundering, and two counts related to operating an unlicensed money transmitting business.
