TechFlow news — On November 6, the Associated Press reported that Massachusetts Senatorial election results are in: Elizabeth Warren, an advocate for stringent cryptocurrency regulation, has defeated John Deaton, the Republican candidate backed by pro-crypto forces, securing her fourth term.
As a member of the Senate Banking and Financial Services Committee, Warren has consistently criticized the crypto industry and championed anti-money laundering legislation that would extend Bank Secrecy Act requirements to miners, validators, and wallet providers.
Deaton, her opponent, previously received support from prominent figures in the crypto industry, including Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse. A key figure in Ripple's legal battle with the SEC, Deaton challenged SEC Chair Gary Gensler in 2021 and objected to the SEC's classification of XRP as a security.
