TechFlow news, November 6 — According to Protos, the Bitcoin developer mailing list has completed its migration from the Linux Foundation. The developer communications hosted on the Linux Foundation's open-source platform over the past decade have been permanently removed. Visitors now see only an error message stating "No such list bitcoin-dev."
The mailing list has now moved to Google Groups, a platform owned by Google, a tech giant with a $2 trillion market cap. Bitcoin developer Bryan Bishop has uploaded historical records from platforms including Linux, SourceForge.net, and OSUOSL to Google Groups. Users can still access historical archives via Archive.org's Wayback Machine.
During the first decade following Bitcoin's inception in 2008, email was the primary channel for discussing technical changes to Bitcoin Core. Today, developers increasingly prefer diverse channels such as instant messaging tools, social media, and private servers. This migration marks a new phase in Bitcoin's technical communication, with developers continuing protocol development on the Google Groups platform.
