TechFlow news — On November 5, according to Bloomberg, despite being banned from offering prediction betting services—including on the U.S. presidential election—to American users, prediction market platform Polymarket is still paying influencers on U.S. social media to promote its election forecasting services.
Investigations revealed that in September this year, Armand Saramout, Polymarket's Senior Director of Growth, proactively approached American influencers to discuss sponsorship deals. Recently, multiple Instagram accounts with large followings have posted sponsored content for Polymarket featuring hashtags #PMPartner and #PolymarketPartner.
A Polymarket spokesperson acknowledged these promotional activities but argued that the goal was to drive traffic and awareness to the site, not to encourage trading by U.S. users. The anonymous operator of the Instagram account @trustfundterry said they’ve collaborated with Polymarket for years and were never informed that their content should target non-U.S. audiences or include disclaimers about trading restrictions.
