TechFlow news, on October 30, according to Cryptoslate, Russian Deputy Energy Minister Yevgeny Grabchak announced that due to ongoing energy shortages, Russia will restrict cryptocurrency mining in specific regions, including the Far East, southwestern and southern Siberia—areas with limited power resources. The state news agency TASS confirmed the ban, stating that power shortages could persist until 2030, making large-scale mining difficult to sustain.
Law enforcement actions have already begun targeting illegal or residential mining operations. On October 28, Russian authorities arrested a resident of Novosibirsk suspected of electricity fraud related to crypto mining, having profited over 12 million rubles (approximately $123,000). The case is under further investigation.
