TechFlow news — On October 28, according to Decrypt, Tokyo-based Metaplanet announced today the acquisition of approximately 156 additional bitcoins, worth around $10 million, increasing its total bitcoin holdings to 1,108 BTC, valued at approximately $69 million. Following this announcement, the company's stock rose 8% in early Asian trading, reaching 1,139 yen per share.
Metaplanet has been steadily increasing its bitcoin holdings since October, accumulating over 600 BTC this month alone. The company has recently followed the example of MicroStrategy—the world’s largest corporate holder of bitcoin—by adopting the "BTC Yield" metric to assess the impact of bitcoin purchases on shareholder returns. While its holdings remain small compared to MicroStrategy’s 252,000 BTC, Metaplanet is emerging as a significant player in corporate bitcoin adoption globally.
Previous report: Japanese publicly listed company Metaplanet announced on X its further purchase of 156.78 BTC, bringing its total holdings to 1,018.17 BTC.
