TechFlow news: On October 23, 2024, the U.S. Department of State announced the establishment of a bilateral liaison group with Nigeria focused on illicit finance and cryptocurrency, aimed at pooling resources to combat cybercrime and financial misconduct related to digital assets. This move follows Nigeria's recent decision to drop charges against Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan and release him.
The U.S. Department of State stated, "We work with global partners to promote the development of cyberspace and digital technologies, while countering and responding to malicious cyber operations, cybercrime, and other digital threats." The U.S. Department of Justice will continue coordinating with the Nigerian government to enhance its capabilities in investigating and prosecuting cybercrimes.
