TechFlow news, October 21 — According to Reuters, Mira Murati, former CTO of OpenAI, is raising funds for her newly established AI startup. Sources indicate that although the fundraising talks are still in early stages, the company could secure over $100 million, given Murati's reputation and the substantial resources required to train proprietary AI models.
Insiders also said Barret Zoph, OpenAI’s former chief researcher who left the company on the same day as Murati, may be involved in the new venture. Murati’s startup is reportedly focused on developing AI products based on proprietary models, though it remains unclear whether she will take the role of CEO.
Murati left OpenAI a month ago, after serving as its CTO for more than a year. During her six-year tenure at OpenAI, she led the development of major projects including ChatGPT and DALL-E, and played a key role in the company’s multi-billion-dollar collaboration with its largest financial backer, Microsoft.
