TechFlow news, October 21 — According to IBTimes, Elon Musk stated during a town hall meeting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, that he did not wish to discuss any specific cryptocurrency, but expressed his belief that cryptocurrencies contribute to individual freedom.
He emphasized this does not imply endorsement or disapproval of XRP. While appearing somewhat uneasy when questioned about XRP, Musk noted that cryptocurrencies could serve as a "fortress" against centralized control.
Previously, in 2020, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) sued Ripple, alleging that its sale of XRP violated securities laws, with the SEC classifying XRP as an unregistered security. The case was initially expected to conclude earlier this year with Ripple being fined $125 million, but the SEC filed an appeal, restarting the legal proceedings.
