TechFlow reported on October 14 that, according to Cointelegraph, Telegram announced it will establish an office in Kazakhstan to enhance compliance and strengthen communication with regulators. Kazakhstan's Minister of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry, Zhaslan Madiyev, said Telegram's physical presence in the country would be "an important step toward strengthening control over platform content."
Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov revealed that currently 12.5 million users in Kazakhstan use Telegram monthly, a 25% increase from 2023, accounting for more than half of the country's 20 million population.
