TechFlow reports on October 14 that Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin published an article discussing the future development direction of the Ethereum protocol.
He noted that Ethereum's Proof-of-Stake (PoS) system has been operating successfully and stably for nearly two years. The main focus for future improvements will be Single Slot Finality and democratization of staking. The goals are to reduce block finality time from 15 minutes to 12 seconds or less, and to lower the staking requirement from 32 ETH to just 1 ETH.
To achieve this, he proposed three potential solutions: enhancing the signature aggregation protocol, introducing an orbital committee mechanism, and implementing a two-tier staking system. Vitalik emphasized that these upgrades would help Ethereum compete with other high-performance blockchains in terms of performance and accessibility, while preserving its unique security guarantees.
