TechFlow news, according to Cointelegraph, former FTX Digital Markets co-CEO Ryan Salame will report to a federal correctional facility on October 11 to begin serving a seven-and-a-half-year sentence.
Since the sentencing hearing on May 28, Salame has suggested on social media that prison will be an "exciting" experience, claiming he will treat his time behind bars like a summer camp. His lawyers have requested that Salame serve his sentence at the U.S. Federal Correctional Institution in Cumberland, Maryland, a medium-security facility near his family home.
One of several executives facing criminal charges following the collapse of FTX, Salame pleaded guilty in September 2023 to conspiracy to make illegal political donations and defrauding the Federal Election Commission. After SBF was sentenced to 25 years in prison earlier this year, Salame will become the second FTX executive to face incarceration. In September, a judge sentenced former Alameda Research CEO Caroline Ellison to two years in prison.
Other executives named in the same indictment, Nishad Singh and Gary Wang, are scheduled to be sentenced on October 30 and November 20, respectively.
