TechFlow news — On October 8, according to Cointelegraph, the "2024 Global Gaming Report: The Competitive Future of Web3 Gaming," jointly released by Web3 gaming protocol Elympics, Blockchain Game Alliance (BGA), and blockchain gaming data tracking platform PlayToEarn, reveals that the complexity of using cryptocurrency wallets is one of the main reasons some players have not tried Web3 games.
The report surveyed 1,000 gamers worldwide to explore the current state of blockchain gaming and player perceptions of Web3 games. Results show that over 10% of respondents cited complicated cryptocurrency wallets as their primary reason for not trying blockchain games. Additionally, 7.3% said they don't understand the value of Web3 games, while 9.1% found blockchain games unappealing. When asked why they play games, airdrops and earning potential were listed as key motivations. The opportunity to compete with other players was also a popular reason.
Michal Dabrowski, CEO of Elympics, noted in the report that Web3 gaming has consistently faced challenges in attracting mainstream gamers. However, he believes a significant shift is approaching. "Infrastructure players like TON entering the Web3 gaming space are bringing powerful social distribution networks and highly engaged communities," Dabrowski said. He added that as more developers choose to build in Web3, high-quality games will gain greater visibility. The report also emphasized the importance of convenience. Justin Hyun, Investment Director at the TON Foundation, previously stated that Telegram's Mini Apps will be so seamless that users won't even realize they're interacting with cryptocurrency.
