TechFlow news, September 23 — According to Cointelegraph, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin delivered a speech on September 23 at the Network State Conference 2024 in Singapore, reflecting on his "popup city" experiment Zuzalu and highlighting two major challenges the concept still faces: governance and membership.
Buterin explained that the Zuzalu experiment took place in Montenegro from March to May 2023, bringing together 200 participants from the Ethereum community, crypto executives, biotech entrepreneurs, and researchers. The experiment aimed to enable participants to collaboratively address collective challenges such as human longevity. During the event, attendees enjoyed healthy diets, cold water immersion, and extensive yoga activities.
Buterin noted that while participants were satisfied with the experience and interpersonal interactions proved crucial, the experiment did not clearly define Zuzalu’s next steps, and governance issues remain unresolved. He emphasized that these "network states" could establish rules serving their citizens and reject excessive regulations that hinder progress, but how to implement such rules remains unclear.
