TechFlow reports, on September 23, according to Cointelegraph, a group of anonymous developers announced a hard fork of the cryptocurrency mixing service Samourai Wallet, launching an open-source project named "Ashigaru." The project promises to develop low-barrier, user-safe, and privacy-preserving solutions to maximize censorship resistance.
The Ashigaru development team describes itself as "former users of Samourai Wallet," but states they are unrelated to its core development team. They claim the project extensively uses public domain code and code from other crypto projects, aiming to enable anyone to conduct peaceful, voluntary, and private transactions over the internet without tracking, surveillance, or censorship.
