TechFlow news, September 19 — According to Decrypt, Louisiana has officially begun accepting cryptocurrency payments, becoming the latest U.S. state to embrace digital currencies. State Treasurer John Fleming announced that residents can now use Bitcoin, the Bitcoin Lightning Network, and USDC to pay for various government services.
Louisiana has already received its first cryptocurrency payment via the Bitcoin Lightning Network, which was used to settle a fine from the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. Fleming emphasized that although the state accepts crypto payments, all received funds will be converted into U.S. dollars immediately to mitigate volatility risks.
