TechFlow reports that Vitalik Buterin posted on social media today: "L2 technology has finally become affordable, which is key to achieving widespread adoption of decentralized finance (DeFi)." He had pointed out as early as 2020 that low transaction fees are fundamental to the success of the crypto industry, a reality that has only recently come to pass.
Robert Sasu, core engineer at MultiverseX, responded by stating that L2s currently have low fees only when they are centralized.
Vitalik disagreed, pointing out that Taiko is a decentralized based rollup solution, demonstrating that decentralized L2s like Taiko have already reached an affordable cost level. Sasu agreed but added that rollup-based solutions are still in the minority, expressing hope that more projects will migrate to this architecture.
