TechFlow news — Andrew Kang, co-founder of Mechanism Capital, tweeted that the majority of people are underestimating the pace of artificial intelligence (AI) development, which is currently accelerating significantly.
Kang believes societal transformation won't take 5–15 years, but rather will arrive as an overwhelming wave within the next two years. He predicts the disruption brought by technology to employment, the economy, and society will be felt at an unprecedented speed.
Kang pointed out that many people cite short-term hype cycles and troughs of disillusionment, seemingly unaware that AI research and neural networks have been studied since the 1950s.
He emphasized that we've already gone through a period of "decades of nothing happening," and are now entering an era where "decades of change will happen in a short timeframe."
