TechFlow reports, according to the latest statistics from blockchain security firm Certik, there have been eight reentrancy attacks from the beginning of 2024 to date, resulting in cumulative losses of approximately $30 million. Among these, the attack on Penpie stands as the largest reentrancy attack of 2024 and ranks as the third-largest since January 2021.
In terms of loss magnitude, the Penpie incident is surpassed only by the Grim Finance attack in December 2021 (with losses of about $40 million) and the Vyper vulnerability event in July 2023 (with losses of approximately $52 million).
