TechFlow news, on September 5, Gary Tiu, Executive Director of Hong Kong-listed digital asset company OSL Group, disclosed to TechFlow that recently a number of traditional securities firms have started offering cryptocurrency trading services, essentially through a collaborative model between "securities firms + licensed exchanges." In this model, securities firms partner with licensed exchanges such as OSL, enabling clients to trade listed cryptocurrencies via omnibus accounts. The back-end operations—including crypto custody, trade matching, and clearing and settlement—are still carried out by licensed exchanges like OSL, ensuring compliance with the regulatory safeguards required by the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission.
Gary Tiu stated that this collaborative division of labor between securities firms and exchanges leverages the strengths of securities firms in customer service and market promotion, while relying on licensed institutions' expertise in compliance, technology, and risk control, jointly building a relatively comprehensive and secure cryptocurrency trading ecosystem.
