TechFlow news, according to The Paper, the Xuhui District People's Procuratorate of Shanghai released a report on crimes involving virtual currencies. Since 2022, the procuratorate has handled 23 criminal cases involving 45 individuals related to virtual currencies, with the number of case filings showing an upward trend for three consecutive years. Meanwhile, these cases exhibit characteristics such as increasingly complex and sophisticated methods, technical specialization, concealment, and high amounts involved in the crimes. In the concluded cases, the average illegal gains of suspects exceeded 1 million yuan, with some exceeding 5 million yuan.
In addition, according to the Xinmin Evening News, in response to the recent rise in both the number and financial scale of virtual currency-related criminal cases, the Xuhui District Procuratorate and the Xuhui District Public Security Bureau jointly issued the "Guidelines for Handling Virtual Currencies in Criminal Proceedings." This document provides more detailed and explicit regulations covering every stage of handling virtual currency cases—including investigation and evidence collection, seizure and custody, and transfer and disposal—offering concrete guidance for the lawful management of virtual currencies involved in cases.
