TechFlow reports that the U.S. Attorney's Office filed a document on August 26 with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York opposing former FTX Digital Markets co-CEO Ryan Salame’s request to withdraw his guilty plea.
Salame was previously sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for campaign finance violations, with his surrender date originally set for October 13. He claimed prosecutors had implied they would not investigate his partner, Michelle Bond, but Bond has recently been charged with violating campaign finance laws.
Prosecutors called Salame's allegations "plainly false." If the judge grants Salame’s request, he could face a new criminal trial. Currently, former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried has been sentenced to 25 years in prison, while sentencing for other executives, including Caroline Ellison, remains pending.
