TechFlow reported on August 26 that, according to a recent study by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) covered by the Financial Times, cryptocurrency tax evasion is widespread in Norway. Researchers analyzed tax filings, cryptocurrency exchange data, and survey responses, finding that approximately 88% of Norwegian cryptocurrency holders did not report their assets to tax authorities. The study estimates that about 6% of Norway's population engages in cryptocurrency tax evasion, primarily concentrated among young, male, and urban residents. While the average individual tax evasion amount is relatively small, ranging from $200 to $1,087, the overall scale is significant.
