TechFlow reports, on August 26, according to Coindesk, India's central bank governor Shaktikanta Das said at a conference in Bangalore that the retail central bank digital currency (CBDC) pilot project has attracted over 5 million users and involved 16 banks. Das emphasized there is no need to rush into full-scale rollout of the CBDC system and suggested a phased approach. The central bank is exploring offline payments and programmability features, and has already launched two use cases targeting farmers within the pilot. Das stated that the programmable nature of CBDC could serve as a key driver for financial inclusion, ensuring funds reach intended beneficiaries precisely.
