TechFlow news, according to Xinhua News Agency, on the evening of August 20, a Chinese Ministry of Public Security "Operation Fox Hunt" task force successfully repatriated Zhang Moumou, a major economic crime suspect accused of organizing and leading pyramid scheme activities, from Thailand. This marks the first time since the 1999 extradition treaty between China and Thailand came into effect that China has extradited an economic crime suspect from Thailand.
Zhang Moumou was the ringleader of the MBI Group, which since 2012 carried out online pyramid schemes by issuing virtual digital currencies. The case involves more than 100 billion RMB yuan in illicit funds and over ten million participants. Zhang Moumou was arrested in Thailand on July 21, 2022.
