TechFlow reports that the Arbitrum DAO has passed a proposal for ARB token staking, aimed at enhancing protocol governance efficiency and security. The proposal will introduce ARB staking functionality, though it will not initially distribute fees to token holders. Liquid staked ARB tokens (stARB), implemented via the Tally protocol, will support automatic compounding of future rewards, re-staking capabilities, and compatibility with DeFi.
The proposal seeks to address challenges related to ARB token value accrual and governance mechanisms, while also mitigating potential security risks arising from the Arbitrum DAO treasury accumulating a large amount of ETH. A full implementation plan for ARB staking is expected to be submitted in October this year, with development costs estimated at 200,000 USD worth of ARB tokens.
