TechFlow reports that Tigran Gambaryan, former Binance executive, has seen his health steadily deteriorate since being detained in Nigeria in February. According to his legal team, Gambaryan is currently suffering from a herniated disc requiring high-risk surgery, and due to limited mobility, he must take blood thinners. He has also experienced recurrent throat infections and pneumonia, making tonsil removal medically urgent.
Since July 26, Gambaryan's legal team has been barred from visiting him at Kuje Prison. The next hearing is scheduled for October 11.
Gambaryan’s wife, Yuki, said her husband has been away from home for nearly six months, and their two young children, aged 10 and 5, are struggling with his absence. The family is urging the Nigerian government to release Gambaryan on humanitarian grounds so he can return home for urgent medical care.
U.S. lawmakers have become directly involved, visiting Gambaryan in prison. The specific reason for his detention remains unclear. He was initially invited to attend a meeting in Abuja on February 26, after which he was asked to surrender his passport and has been held ever since.
