TechFlow news: Zcash founder Zooko Wilcox posted on August 10, calling Zcash "the most important project in the world" and stated that it is winning. Wilcox emphasized that Zcash enables anyone to use non-coercible private currency, which he believes is crucial for civil rights, commerce, and social change.
He announced that Zcash will upgrade to the "Crosslink" hybrid PoW and PoS protocol, bringing multiple benefits including allowing users to stake ZEC, providing finality to prevent rollback attacks, reducing transaction confirmation times, and enabling more secure two-way bridges with other networks.
In addition, Wilcox revealed plans to implement a "Zcash Sustainability Fund" to ensure long-term sustainability of the Zcash network and development, all while maintaining the hard cap of 21 million ZEC. He stressed that these upgrades will be deployed as quickly as possible without compromising Zcash's strong security.
Wilcox also stated that he has joined Shielded Labs, a Swiss nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing Zcash as the best private currency, fully funded by donations from Zcash holders.
