TechFlow news: The Solana network recently successfully addressed a critical security vulnerability. According to Solana validator Laine, the process began on August 7, 2024, when the Solana Foundation privately contacted known network operators through confidential channels to quietly fix the vulnerability before it could be exploited. The patch was provided via a GitHub repository maintained by an Anza engineer, enabling operators to independently verify and apply the changes.
By 22:00 on August 8, detailed remediation instructions had been distributed to all relevant stakeholders, securing 66.6% of the network's stake. Once 70% of the network had applied the patch, the vulnerability was publicly disclosed. Subsequently, Solana Labs posted an announcement on Discord urging all remaining operators to update their systems. The notice stated: "Core contributors have identified a security issue requiring an urgent response. Version v1.18.21 containing the patch will be available within 30 minutes. Please prepare to upgrade."
