TechFlow News — Muneeb Ali, co-founder of the Bitcoin Layer 2 network Stacks, has revealed key details about the upcoming Nakamoto upgrade:
-
The final Nakamoto code will be released on August 28, opening the activation window.
-
Network operators will have one stacking cycle (Cycle 92) to complete the upgrade.
-
After a successful handover between Cycles 92 and 93, core developers will finalize the hard fork block number.
-
sBTC is expected to launch approximately four weeks after the Nakamoto upgrade.
Ali emphasized that Nakamoto is the most significant upgrade for Stacks since its inception, with complexity comparable to Ethereum's transition from PoW to PoS. The first phase of the upgrade has already been successfully completed, with over $1 billion in capital migrated from the old system to the new. The core development team will ensure the final version’s security and precision to prepare for a smooth transition.
Ali stated that the Nakamoto upgrade is nearing completion, and it's now time to start building on Bitcoin.
