TechFlow reports, according to French media, that a group of hackers recently launched cyberattacks on data systems of around 40 tourist sites in France, including the Grand Palais museum—the venue for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The attackers obtained sensitive financial data and are threatening to leak the information unless a ransom in cryptocurrency is paid. The specific ransom amount and type of cryptocurrency have not been disclosed.
The French National Gendarmerie's Cybercrime Unit is investigating the incident. Paris authorities stated that the attack has not affected Olympic preparations, and the museum’s shops remain operational.
