TechFlow news, on August 2, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) issued a warning stating that scammers are impersonating employees of cryptocurrency exchanges and attempting to steal users' funds through unsolicited phone calls or messages. The fraudsters claim there is an emergency—such as account issues or unauthorized access attempts—and urge victims to provide login credentials, click malicious links, or submit personal identification information. This enables them to gain access to accounts and steal cryptocurrency.
To effectively prevent such scams, the FBI recommends users take the following steps: remain vigilant and do not respond when receiving any call or message about account issues. Immediately hang up and contact the exchange’s official customer service using verified contact information—never use phone numbers provided by the caller. Avoid visiting any links or websites sent by the caller; instead, directly navigate to the exchange’s official website. Users should firmly refuse any request for account login details. Additionally, avoid clicking links, downloading files, or opening attachments from unsolicited messages, and remain cautious toward services claiming they can recover lost cryptocurrency.
