TechFlow news, according to Pantera Research Lab's latest salary survey, a rare "reverse" gender pay gap has emerged in the cryptocurrency industry. The survey found that the median salary for full-time female crypto professionals in the U.S. is $172,000, compared to $150,000 for males—nearly 15% higher. This stands in stark contrast to traditional industries, where women typically earn only $1 for every $1.19 earned by men in non-crypto companies.
The data was collected from a sample of 502 full-time U.S. employees between June 4 and July 20, 2024, via professional networks including LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), and email.
The study found that women in crypto firms have an average of 5.3 years of work experience, higher than men's 4.5 years, which may partially explain the wage difference. Additionally, women hold a larger share of mid-to-senior level positions, while more men occupy entry-level roles.
However, researchers also emphasized that women may still face barriers and challenges in the industry. According to a Forex Suggest report, among the CEOs of 50 leading cryptocurrency companies in 2023, only three were women.
Nonetheless, regardless of gender, salaries in the cryptocurrency industry are generally higher than those in most other sectors.
