TechFlow reported on July 27 that, according to Coindesk, 14 Democratic members of Congress including Ro Khanna sent a letter to the Democratic National Committee urging them to include pro-cryptocurrency language in the party platform. Additionally, they proposed selecting a vice-presidential candidate who supports cryptocurrencies and understands digital assets, and replacing current U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Gary Gensler with a chair who supports innovation.
The letter calls on Democrats to adopt a "forward-looking approach" toward digital assets, matching the pro-crypto stance already taken by Republicans. It argues that supporting these innovative technologies will help reaffirm America's leadership position in the global digital economy. The proposal has been endorsed by 14 sitting members of Congress and 14 congressional candidates, and was announced at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, Tennessee.
