TechFlow news, Indian Economic Affairs Secretary Ajay Seth said India plans to release a discussion paper on cryptocurrency policy before September. A cross-departmental committee including the Reserve Bank of India and the Securities and Exchange Board of India is studying related policies.
Seth emphasized that the document aims to solicit stakeholders' feedback rather than commit to comprehensive legislation. Currently, India has not enacted comprehensive cryptocurrency regulations, but has imposed high taxes on the sector and required crypto entities to register with the Financial Intelligence Unit to comply with global anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing standards.
