TechFlow reports, citing Decrypt, that Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney said the battle royale gaming giant Fortnite may leverage blockchain in the future, but will not adopt cryptocurrency or NFT transactions. He emphasized that the "core concept" of blockchain holds potential as a decentralized database solution.
Sweeney noted that blockchain's long-term reputation may have been damaged by its association with cryptocurrencies. He stated that blockchain failed to mature sufficiently within pure technology communities and instead became perceived primarily as a financial tool, leading to issues such as speculation, fraud, and regulatory uncertainty that severely impacted its value.
