TechFlow news: Tech giants Microsoft and Apple have decided not to take board seats at AI company OpenAI, amid increasing regulatory scrutiny.
According to Bloomberg, Microsoft notified OpenAI of its withdrawal from the board on July 10—just one year after investing $13 billion in OpenAI in April 2023.
Microsoft stated that it has seen significant progress from the new board over the past eight months and expressed confidence in the company's direction, making its observer role no longer necessary.
Although reports suggested Apple would gain an observer seat through a major June agreement, OpenAI said there will be no board observers following Microsoft’s departure.
OpenAI expressed gratitude for Microsoft's trust and looks forward to continuing their successful collaboration.
