TechFlow reported on July 9 that, according to Cointelegraph, Worldcoin, the cryptocurrency and digital identity project co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, has announced the developer preview release of World Chain. This version offers global developers an opportunity to build on the chain ahead of the World Chain mainnet launch. Remco Bloemen, Protocol Lead at the Worldcoin Foundation, said that with the World Chain developer preview, developers can deploy infrastructure on a "gated mainnet," as World Chain skips the testnet phase.
Developers have already tested World Chain on OP Stack, the open-source development framework maintained by the Optimism Collective. World Chain is expected to fully launch in 2024 and will integrate with Worldcoin's identity protocol, World ID, aiming to enable transactions by real humans. The project is committed to building an ecosystem where people can use a universal World ID as a global digital passport.
