TechFlow reported that the OpenTensor Foundation, representing the Bittensor community, announced an on-chain attack targeting the Bittensor community on July 2. The attack originated from a malicious package in PyPi Package Manager version 6.12.2, compromising user security. Attackers stole unencrypted cold key details by disguising malicious code as a legitimate Bittensor package. The OpenTensor Foundation has removed the malicious package and conducted a full audit of the codebase, finding no other vulnerabilities. The foundation will gradually restore normal operations of the Bittensor blockchain and urges users to upgrade to the latest version to ensure security.
