TechFlow News, according to PeckShield data, over 200 major hacking incidents occurred in the crypto sector during the first half of 2024, resulting in approximately $1.56 billion in losses, with $319 million recovered. Compared to the same period in 2023 (when losses were $480 million), this represents a 293% increase. DeFi protocols remained the primary target, accounting for 59% of the total stolen value.
In the first half of 2024, more than 20 public blockchains suffered significant hacks. By amount lost, the top three cryptocurrencies were Ethereum, Bitcoin, and XRP. In terms of number of attacks, Ethereum and BNB Chain tied for first place, each accounting for 31.3% of total incidents, followed by Arbitrum at 12.5%.
