TechFlow news, according to Cointelegraph, the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority (DFSA) has denied reports about plans to ban non-custodial Bitcoin wallets. The DFSA stated that the exemption of self-hosted wallets from MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation) does not imply such wallets should be prohibited.
Tobias Thygesen, Director of FinTech, Payment Services, and Governance at DFSA, said the only regulated activity directly involving wallets is providing custody and management of crypto assets on behalf of customers. Since hardware wallets do not entrust private keys to wallet providers, they fall outside the scope of the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR). Non-custodial wallets are inherently unregulated under MiCAR.
