TechFlow news, according to Cointelegraph, U.S. Department of Justice officials have drafted a motion opposing Ethereum developer Virgil Griffith's request for a sentence reduction over violations of sanctions against North Korea.
U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a filing submitted on June 17 to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York that the judge should deny Griffith’s motion to reduce his sentence to 51 months.
The judge previously sentenced the former Ethereum developer to 63 months in prison and a $100,000 fine in April 2022. Accounting for time served prior to sentencing, his projected release date is January 2026.
