As of June 16, 2024, the total funding in the cryptocurrency industry reached $101.35 billion, according to DefiLlama data. Back in May 2014, startup funding within the industry amounted to only $17.14 million for the month. A decade later, by May 2024, monthly funding had risen to $280.25 million.
Crypto startup funding peaked historically in October 2021, exceeding $7 billion, with the second-highest peak occurring in February 2022 at $3.67 billion. Research shows that nearly half of all cryptocurrency funding came from U.S. investors, with the United Kingdom and Singapore ranking second and third respectively.
