TechFlow news: ZKsync will airdrop 3.675 billion ZK tokens next week to early users and adopters, representing 17.5% of the total ZK token supply of 21 billion.
ZKsync stated this is a one-time airdrop, and users will be able to claim their tokens starting next week until January 3, 2025. Contributors can begin claiming from June 24.
An additional 49.1% of the token supply will be allocated through ecosystem programs, with 17.2% going to investors and 16.1% to the Matter Labs team.
The airdrop covers 695,232 wallets. Eligibility and distribution are based on activity snapshots taken at 8:00 AM UTC on March 24, 2024, across ZKsync Era and ZKsync Lite.
Users receive 89% of the airdropped tokens, while contributors receive 11%.
Remaining community allocations will be gradually distributed through ecosystem initiatives and governance processes. Less than 0.5% of the supply is allocated to experimental community users active on platforms such as Farcaster and Lens.
The community airdrop follows a points-based system, with all tokens fully liquid from day one and no vesting period. Matter Labs founder Alex Gluchowski said this airdrop prioritizes genuine users and filters out bots associated with large volumes of meaningless activity.
