TechFlow reports that crypto KOL "Da Chengzi" recently posted on X, drawing widespread attention to a series of API manipulation theft incidents. He revealed that in early 2018, he lost 60,000 BNB due to an API manipulation attack. At the time, his API was linked to SoSoBTC (now AICoin), and Binance was newly established, allowing him to recover only a small portion of the losses. Each BNB was worth around a dozen dollars back then, whereas today one BNB trades at approximately $600, making the current total value around 270 million RMB.
He noted that at the time, the technology was immature—APIs did not differentiate between read-only and trading permissions, nor did they support IP address binding.
