TechFlow reports that Lido has announced the disclosure of a security incident involving Numic, an Ethereum node operator, on May 14. Numic experienced a security breach affecting a developer machine that had access to backup encryption keys for mainnet validators. It is currently unclear whether the encryption keys were accessed or copied.
To ensure security, the node operator has taken the following actions:
- Set all deposit-capable keys associated with the Lido protocol to zero;
- Proactively initiated a phased withdrawal of all potentially affected keys.
As of now, all validators have been fully exited and their funds completely withdrawn, with no user funds impacted. Lido DAO contributors are assisting with the investigation, and the node operator is reviewing its security and backup procedures. The DAO may discuss whether the operator should remain on the active node list.
