TechFlow news — Sam Altman and Alex Blania, key supporters of the iris-scanning project Worldcoin, recently held talks with Malaysian leaders in an effort to improve relations with the government and demonstrate their commitment to user data and privacy.
Blania is CEO of Tools for Humanity and a lead developer of the Worldcoin project. Last Friday, he and Altman, co-founder of Tools for Humanity, participated in a video conference with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
The project has faced temporary bans in Spain and Portugal amid concerns raised by privacy advocates over eye scans used to create personal World IDs. Regulatory bodies in other countries have also initiated reviews. In response, the project has introduced a series of measures, including enabling users to permanently delete their iris data.
Tools for Humanity has also appointed Trevor Traina, former U.S. ambassador to Austria, as Head of Global Affairs to strengthen government relations. To date, Worldcoin has issued over 5 million World IDs.
