TechFlow news — Former FTX CEO SBF was recently sentenced to 25 years in federal prison and has requested the judge to allow him to serve his pre-sentencing detention in the New York City area instead of California.
In a filing submitted on April 8 to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, SBF's lawyers asked Judge Lewis Kaplan to issue an order permitting the former FTX CEO to remain at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
According to his legal team, SBF wishes to stay at the Brooklyn facility to "facilitate access to appellate counsel," as part of his anticipated appeal of his conviction and sentencing.
