TechFlow news: A public online forum representing the Terra-Luna victim community, comprising over 2,700 members, is advocating for the extradition of Terraform Labs co-founder Do Kwon to the United States rather than South Korea.
Their statement reads: "Even if Do Kwon is sentenced in his first trial in South Korea, South Korea has not yet established regulations to penalize crypto-related crimes, and penalties on appeal are likely to be significantly reduced, potentially allowing Do Kwon to be released without appropriate punishment."
According to local reports, maximum prison terms for financial criminals in South Korea typically range between 30 and 40 years. However, the United States follows a principle allowing courts to impose consecutive sentences for each individual crime of which a defendant is convicted.
Therefore, the statement argues, Do Kwon could face a substantially longer prison term in the United States.
